Project Overview

Human Made Machine is a creative pretesting company that predicts how ads will perform before brands spend big on media. Its clients include Google, Unilever, the BBC, and Coach, which uses HMM to test creative for campaigns worldwide. HMM asked True Stories to turn that Coach partnership into a case study film, told from inside the room where the work happens.

Challenge

Creative pretesting is hard to sell in the abstract: it’s data-heavy, mostly invisible, and easy to dismiss as one more step before launch. HMM needed proof that felt human, coming from a brand prospective clients already knew and respected.

Approach

We filmed at Coach’s New York offices and sat down with Coach’s marketing leadership and the Human Made Machine team who built the testing infrastructure around them. The result was a mini-doc about a tech company and a legendary fashion brand learning to make each other better.

Results

The film lives on HMM’s homepage and serves as a primary sales tool--the case study they put in front of prospective clients. For a company that sells certainty, there’s no stronger pitch than a household-name brand vouching for the process in its own words.
