Project Overview
Delix Therapeutics is a clinical-stage neuroscience company engineering non-hallucinogenic analogs of psychedelics. Its goal is to transform treatment for the billion people worldwide living with neuropsychiatric disease. Delix asked True Stories for a short documentary that would put that work in context: where psychiatric medicine has been, and where Delix is taking it.
Challenge
Delix’s science was genuinely groundbreaking, but it was also complex and dense. The challenge was making it feel urgent, human, and comprehensible to anyone who needed to understand why Delix mattered.
Approach
Using interviews, b-roll, and archival materials, we made a short documentary that traces the full arc: fifty years of stagnant neuropsychiatric treatment, the suppression of psychedelic research in the 1970s, and the 2016 discovery that psychedelics promote neuroplasticity. It ends with how Delix cracked the code: the therapeutic benefits of psychedelics, without the trip.
Results
Our film has lived at the top of Delix’s homepage for the past two years, serving as the gateway to the people and history behind Delix’s work. In that time, the company has raised significant capital, advanced into clinical trials, and received FDA clearance for at-home Phase 2 studies. We are now in an ongoing content partnership, updating the homepage film to reflect the company’s clinical progress and building a library of content to document what comes next. As CEO Mark Rus said, “The breakthrough science behind Delix is genuinely hard to explain. True Stories immersed themselves in it, totally got it, and then found a way to make it feel urgent, compelling, and human.”
